For the love of design…
Natural Patina gives depth and tells the history of anything, from people to furnishings. I realized this while living in Italy and France about the same time I realized my love for all things French, particularly Country French. The older the piece the more beautiful the patina and the simple life of the people I knew there created colors of their own, slow, beautiful colors. Patina to me represents more than tarnished metals and colors. It’s the entire history of a piece. The deep nicks and a worn surface gives character to furniture and decor. Perfect is boring, made in China is cheap and new has not yet found its character.
I was upcycling furniture far before it was the cool thing to do. I once rescued an Antebellum buffet from being painted at the height of Shabby Chicness in Redondo Beach, California…it’s moved with me for sixteen years and yes, was eventually painted and gilded, curated to tell its story, and the old Southern belle still has her patina and wears it regally; it is her history, it is her voice.
La Maison Patine is by appointment only, we are being creative in the strangest and most unlikely of places. We are available by appointment for staging homes for sale or simply making your home or office feel and look beautiful, personal interior design and just great brainstorming sessions. Most of our furnishings are represented in our shop, others can be viewed off site by appointment. We’ve designed and implemented everything from Nature filled Glass Bathing Suites to Haute Provence living spaces and we love every single minute of it.
